Casey Sandretto Wins WPT Rolling Thunder Championship After Epic Battle With Yunkyu Song

The fourth and final day began with Yunkyu Song holding over half the chips in play with six players remaining. But it just wasn’t his day as he bowed out in fourth place, becoming one of four players in the 485-entry field  to score a six-figure payout with $105,000 cash. Still, the outcome wasn’t exactly what he was anticipating when he began the live-streamed final table. One of the monster pot came against Kinney in which Song had AxQX preflop against AX JX, and Kinney sucked out to win the pot.

Finally, Song ran into a three-way cooler with his Ah Qh facing Sandretto’s Ac Kc. All the chips were in the middle preflop, and the best hand held, meaning that Song was eliminated from the final table.

During the heads-up, both players had nearly identical stacks and they agreed for heads-up deal, leaving over $11,000 extra to the winner along with a seat into the 2024 WPT World Championship. On the final hand, the board brought 3d Kd 2s Ac, all the chips went in with Sandretto’s pocket kings for trips coolering Kinney’s Ah 2h. The 10h on the river changed nothing, and Kinney had to settle for runner up and $235,000. Sandretto, a hometown player who considers Thunder Valley as the best casino when it comes to poker tournaments in the country” scored his first WPT title and cash worth $246,600, more than doubling his previous $161,000 in live earnings.
