The World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship is currently underway at Wynn Las Vegas. The series kicked off on December 3 and will continue until December 23. Anyone who has roamed around the Wynn must have noticed the beautiful 2025 McLaren GTS – it is very hard to miss!
A part of a special giveaway by ClubWPT Gold alongside its ClubWPT Gold $5M Invitational Freeroll, the coveted golden car was won by Richard Lord, a professional magician from Las Vegas who also loves playing poker.
He arrived at the Wynn for the ClubWPT Gold $5M Invitational Freeroll to compete for the $1 million up top prize. While he put up a good fight, his magical tricks could not get him past the money bubble. The popular magician exited the tournament just a few places shy of the payout stages.
As per the latest updates from WPT, the $5M Invitational Freeroll has concluded crowning a champion Chase Bricker, who walked away with a massive $1 million prize after defeating Jason Christopher in a heads-up.
Richard Lord’s Magic Moment
While roaming the Wynn’s corridors, Lord saw the prize drum at the ClubWPT Gold Booth and drew one of the three “JACKPOT” envelopes, making his way into a big golden draw promising the $250k car and a $50k in cash prizes. Today, Lord and two other JACKPOT winners took their place on the stage and each of them had to pick one envelope for their chance to take home the shiny 2025 McLaren GTS worth $250,000.
To make it even more exciting, all three winners were asked to open their envelopes at the same time. A few seconds later, Lord screamed with joy as his envelope contained the grand main prize – the 2025 McLaren GTS.
While Lord stole the show, the other two participants did not leave empty-handed as one of them walked away with a cool $24,800 from the $50,00 cash booth, leaving the remainder to the third participant.
For Lord used to create illusions, this real-life magic was truly overwhelming and unforgettable. He was visibly on cloud nine after winning the coveted 2025 McLaren GTS. “This is exhilarating. It smells amazing in here. My gosh,” said Lord when he sat behind the wheel.
After the win, the host jokingly asked Lord if he had used any magic trick to win the car. He swore and said that there was no magic involved to win it.
Jokingly, he even said that the new car is quite an upgrade on his 2010 Subaru Outback, as it is 15 years newer and$245,000 more expensive.
Lord even joked about the new car’s worth surpassing the combined value of the cars in his apartment’s parking lot. “I live in an apartment with a parking lot. I think this car might be worth more than all the other cars in the lot combined”- said the overwhelmed Lord
Talking about his first plan for the car, he said that he would take a joyride to surprise her girlfriend, “I’m going to go surprise my girlfriend at work.”
