It is no news that women in poker have steadily grown to prominence. These women challenge traditional norms and reshape the dynamics of this traditionally male-dominated game. These bold and skilled female champions dominate Live and Online tournaments, making transformative contributions to the game. Female poker players now contest at the highest levels of the game, clinching prestigious titles while inspiring several other aspiring females through their remarkable achievements. One such notable and respected name in the Indian poker scene is Shuchi Chamaria, who has steadily gained recognition with her performances on both online and live poker felts. Interestingly, the Kolkata-based player was introduced to poker by her husband and one of the most influential poker players in India, Aditya Agarwal.

Shuchi Chamaria had never played a single hand of poker before meeting the poker dynamo. Like several others, the female pro was mentored by her now husband Aditya Agarwal. Shuchi is Aditya’s first successful female student.

Shuchi’s dedication to enhancing her skills is obvious from her consistent efforts to study and practice the game. Often regarded as the ‘First Lady of Indian Poker’ owing to her relationship with Aditya, she has greatly benefited from the coaching sessions with her husband. She describes these sessions as both challenging and rewarding, which have eventually helped her grow. With a blend of hard work and mentorship, Shuchi has been able to achieve a respectful reputation in the male-dominated poker community. 

In 2017, she was also signed as the brand ambassador for PokerMet, through which she contributed to the efforts to enhance poker’s visibility in India as well as internationally.

Shuchi Chamaria has been playing live poker for seven years. Her first recorded live cash was in 2017 at the PokerStars Festival in London. Over the years she has participated and registered notable results at several notable poker series across the globe including the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, Asia Poker Tour and many others. 

With a modest dozen cashes including a title, Shuchi Chamaria has Total Live Earnings of $29,586 to her credit. Her best live cash to date came last year at the World Poker Tour Prime – WPT Prime Vietnam in Hanoi, which also happens to be her career-first live poker title. At the ₫ 6,000,000 + 5,000,000 No Limit Hold’em – Big Bounty event in May 2023, Shuchi Chamaria scripted history by adding a title to her name after outshining an entry field of 182 players and walking away with a career-best $5,905

She ranks 82,444th on the All Time Money List according to Hendon Mob and 293rd on India’s All Time Money List.

Shuchi Chamaria’s list of online poker achievements includes winning flagship online tourneys such as The Bout, Super Tuesday, Battle Royale, and The Summit on PokerBaazi. Her largest cash on Largest Cash on the online felts was ₹6,07,824, which she pocketed for her runner-up finish at the Big Whale tournament on Adda52 back in July 2023. 

Shuchi Chamaria boasts a Lifetime Total of ₹53.55 Lakhs, with a humble 18 online titles on her poker resume. 

Shuchi Chamaria’s approach and gameplay highlight the importance of studying the mathematical aspects of the game, thus inspiring all emerging players, especially women to not allow barriers like gender biases to hold them back. 

Her story and journey are an inspiration to aspiring players and a testament to the growing existence of women in poker.  Having aced the game with her skill and effort she has established herself as a strong example for other budding women poker players.
