2024 Manila Megastack Main Event Final Table Recap
Richard Marquez emerged victorious at the Manila Megastack 20 Main Event, keeping the title and trophy at home, and collecting the first-place prize of PHP 3,713,920 (~$64,141). This was Marquez’s third poker title of the year, after winning an APT and the Manila Megastack title earlier this year. With this victory, he now has brought his career earnings of $830,778.
The PHP 45k (~$770) buy-in event attracted 512 entrants across four starting flights, crushing the PHP 20 Million GTD for PHP 20,113,920 (~$342,500) total prize pool. A total of 78 players made it to the money. Marquez’s road to victory was nothing short of remarkable. Despite leading the table, he soon came down in terms of stacks after going up against defending champion William Ysmael. However, he bounced back after sending out Ysmael in 3rd place.
Heads-up was quick and short, lasting for just five hands. The final hand saw Rene Mar David jamming his last chip stacks with seven-three and Marquez called the all-in holding jack-eight. The dry board favored the jack-eight of Marquez, locking up his victory. Rene Mar collected PHP 2,320,000 (~$57,000) for the runner-up finish.
