The action has intensified at the 2023 World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship in Las Vegas. Entering Day 5, the starting field of 3,835 entries has whittled down to just 45 players from an initial 132 competitors on Day 4.
Mark Mounsey (18,725,000 -117 BBs ) leads the final 45 into Day 5. Close behind him are Maxime Chilaud (17,900,000), Ren Lin (17,750,000), Raphael Blouet (17,450,000 chips) and Ben Heath (16,600,000). Day 4 chip leader Naj Ajez (14,600,000 chips) is still going strong with the seventh largest stack, just behind Ben Jacobs, who is sitting at the sixth place with 16,425,000 in chips.
Stealing the spotlight from India is the in-form player Ankit Ahuja, who started Day 4 with an impressive 8.465 Million (122 BBs). He bagged 6.95 Million chips (43 BBs) for Day 5, ranking 25th among the final 45 players.

Transitioning from his role as a Senior Product Development Manager at PokerStars, Ahuja has been a dominant presence at the poker tables. While he has several prestigious titles and final table finishes under his belt, his biggest highlight of 2023 includes shipping the Eureka Main Event at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus 2023. The victory earned him a staggering $362,365, which happens to be his best live score till date. Now, it will be interesting to see if Ahuja can surpass this score or not. Given his strategic prowess, we can expect him to fare well and edge past his best score from the Eureka Main Event.
While each of the remaining 45 players entering Day 5 has already secured a minimum payout of $111,300, their eyes will be on the coveted title and the top prize worth $5,678,000.
Day 5 of the WPT World Championship begins at 12:00 noon and will feature five 90-minute levels. All who survive today’ onslaught will return on Day 6 to play down to the six-handed final table.
