Sagar Raj And Ritwik Khanna Among Latest Bracelet Winners At DPT Grand 2024

Day 4 of the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Grand 2024 witnessed electrifying action unfolding at the Deltin Royale casino in Goa. The day saw the conclusion of two exciting bracelet events –  ₹1.25 Lakh Highroller and the ₹40k Megastack Hyper Turbo Championship. The star of the day was undoubtedly Sagar Raj, who overcame a star-studded field in the DPT Grand Highroller, claiming his second bracelet at the ongoing series following his victory in the Grand Rush Finale on the opening day of the series. The second winner of the day was crowned in  Ritwik Khanna who won the DPT Megastack Hyper Turbo Championship, earning his first DPT Bracelet. 

Sagar Raj Wins His Second DPT Bracelet in the Grand High Roller

Sagar Raj made history by claiming his second DPT Bracelet in the inaugural DPT Grand Series, securing his victory in the ₹1.25 Lakh DPT High Roller and walking home with a whooping ₹30.12 Lakh. 

DPT Grand High Roller attracted 138 entrants, building a substantial prize pool of ₹1.51 Crore. This was a two-day event that began on 24th October, and ended on 25th October. Of the 138 entrants, the top 17 players received payouts from the staggering prize pool. 

Some notable players who ran deep include the likes of poker pro and coach Abhishek Goindi (17th – ₹2,95,165), inaugural WPT India Main Event champion Vikas Mantri (15th – ₹2,95,165), Inaugural WPT Vietnam Main Event champion Dhaval Mudgal (14th – ₹2,95,165), Vikaas Shah (13th – ₹3,33,814), and J Raju (12th – ₹3,33,814). Amit Kaushik, Ashish Munot, Kanchan Sharma, Kunal Patni, and Pranav Bagai were the notable pros who fell short of reaching the money. 

Sagar aRaj entered the final table with a commanding chip lead, followed by Shardul P in second position. Raj maintained his lead throughout the final table. He played some top notch poker,  eliminating Thirupathi Reddy (6th – ₹7,79,365), Rubin Labroo (5th – ₹10,52,983), and Soma Shekhar (3rd – ₹19,22,126). He eventually faced Shardul P in the heads-up battle.

With a significant chip advantage in the heads-up, Raj went all the way, winning the title. On the final hand,  he moved all in and was called by Shardul. Raj held Q♠-2♦ against Shardul’s J♦-2♥. The board ran 9♥-4♦-7♣-10♥-5♠. Neither player connected on the board, but Raj’s queen-high was superior to Shardul jack-high, securing the win and his second DPT bracelet. Shardul P had to settle in second place. He took home ₹29.92 Lakh following a heads-up deal.

Ritwik Khanna Clinches DPT Megastack Hyper Turbo Championship Victory 

Ritwik Khanna clinched his first-ever DPT Bracelet in the ₹40k Megastack Hyper Turbo Championship. Khanna overcame a field of 87 players, adding the DPT Bracelet to his podium.

The DPT Megastack Hyper Turbo had a ₹40k buy-in and attracted 87 players, generating a prize pool of ₹30.45 Lakh, which was finally distributed among the top 11 finishers. The action was fast and furious, with eliminations coming quickly. The money was reached quickly after the elimination of Saurabh Wagh exiting the tournament on the money bubble. 

Poker pro Anand Babu (11th – ₹1,10,000) was the first player to finish in the money. He was followed by Samyak Sethi who finished 10th earning ₹1,20,000) for his deep run in the event. 

 The final table kicked off with Ritwik Khanna leading the pack with a massive 27.20 Lakh chip stack, followed by Vishrant Goyal in second with a stack of 18.10 Lakh chips. Both players remained among the chip leaders on the final table and eventually made it to the heads-up. 

During heads-up play, Goyal initially had a chip advantage over Khanna. Later, both players agreed to an ICM deal to split the remaining ₹13.20 Lakh, guaranteeing Khanna ₹6.20 Lakh and Goyal ₹7.40 Lakh.

Khanna was ahead when the final hand arrived. On the final hand, Goyal moved all-in with K♠-8♥, while Khanna called with A♦-A♥. The board ran out 7♦-J♦-8♠-2♠-6♦. Khanna’s pocket aces held strong and he was crowned as the champion of the Megastack Hyper Turbo Championship. 

2024 has been a successful year for Ritwik Khanna. In July, he also cashed the WSOP Circuit Main Event in Tallinn, and in May, he won the 2024 DPT Turbo Mix. Last year, Khanna  triumphed in the 2023 WPT India Megastack Closer.
