Women continue to shine on the live poker scene and currently in the spotlight is the Brazilian poker pro and 888poker ambassador Vivian Saliba. She etched her name into poker history by winning her first-ever bracelet in Event #4: €2,000 Pot Limit Omaha of the ongoing 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe at King’s Resort in Rozvadov. The only female entrant in the tournament, she overcame a star-studded field of 229 entrants and bested Germany’s Markus Anheier in heads-up to claim the €91,400 top prize.
With the victory, she becomes the third champion of the ongoing series, following earlier victories of Poland’s Przemyslaw Szymanski (WSOPE Event #1: €350 No-Limit Hold’em Opener) and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Kokoulin (WSOPE Event #2: €550 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Max).
Currently ranked 40th on Brazil’s all-time money list, Saliba’s latest victory in Rozvadov is her second-largest career score and marks her fifth final table appearance in a bracelet event. This win pushes her live tournament earnings past the seven-figure milestone. Her biggest cash to date remains her fourth-place finish in the 2019 WSOP Crazy Eights (Event #64), where she earned a hefty $308,888.
Meanwhile, runner-up Markus Anheier walked away with an impressive €59,700, marking the largest cash of his career. The third-place finisher, Hokyiu Lee—who won this event in 2023—fell short of making history with a back-to-back victory, with Saliba dashing his hopes for the repeat title.
2024 WSOP Europe €2,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Event Quick Recap
This event ran over the course of two days and generated €398,231 prize pool. Day 2 lasted more than 17 hours and Saliba hoist the coveted bracelet in the wee hours of the morning on September 26.
The final day began with 50 players with defending champion Hokyiu Lee in the lead. Saliba was the seventh shortest stack heading into the day, but managed to survive and reach the final table.
Lee further extended his lead by eliminating Milan Skacel (8th). Saliba scored her first knockout at the final table when she hit straight on the turn, which was enough to bust Eran Carmi (7th ).
After Samuel Albeck (6th) and Thomas Hueber (5th ) were the next players to leave the final table. Not long after that, Sabic shoved his stack with a straight draw and a pair of sixes facing a flush draw for Anheier. The river gave Anheier a flush and the knockout, ending Sabic’s run in fourth place.
Meanwhile, Saliba won a couple of crucial all-ins during three-handed play that moved her into the chip lead. Lee was looking in great shape for back-to-back victory bu his run ended in third place after he was left short following a clash against Saliba. His last chips went in with Kc 7h 6s 2c facing the As Ks 10d 5s. The board ran out Js 8d 5c 3h 3c and Lee’s run ended in third place for €40,100.
The heads-up saw Saliba holding 7,400,000 to Anheier’s 4,050,000. The turning point came with a big all-in with Anheier’s As Kd Js 10d beating the Ks Kh Jd 6s of Saliba. Anheier made full house by the river to move into the chip lead.
Saliba secured a double up to nearly even in stacks, and then sntached the lead. On the final hand, Anheier limped with Kc 9c 4h 2s and Saliba raised with As Qd 7d 5s. Anheier called and the flop came 9d 7h 4d. The chip went in with Anheier’s nines and fours facing a pair of sevens and a flush draw for Saliba. The turn brought the Ad, giving Saliba a flush. The 5h on the river sealed victory for Saliba.
