The Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Invitational IV concluded on Saturday night at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, crowning its winner in Legendary social media gambler and local Vegas Matt, who overcame a star-studded field of 80 contenders to win $20,000 out of the total $50,000 prize pool.
The field included popular celebrities, comedians, professional athletes, internet personalities, content creators, and famous poker players, It took over six hours for Matt to outlast the star-studded field. He eventually bested the previous CPT champion, popular streamer and international chess grandmaster Qiyu ‘Nemo’ Zhou from Canada, who took home $10,000 for her runner-up finish in the tournament.
The star-studded lineup at Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Invitational IV included NBA legends Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Kenyon Martin Sr., and Mario Chalmers, alongside NFL stars Eric Ebron, Marqise Lee, and Patrick Peterson. Sports icons like Adrien Broner, Jose Canseco, Aljamain Sterling, and Mackenzie Dern also competed in the event.
There were several social media sensations such as Tana Mongeau, Blac Chyna, Princess Love, Bryce Hall, Sara Saffari, Ray J, Ashley Nocera, H3H3, and the current “it” girl Hailey Welch, also known as “Hawk Tuah,” were prominently featured.
Besides Nemo, other former CPT winners like Alexander ‘Wolfgang Poker’ Seibt, Princess Love, and Bryce Hall were also in the field. In the end, it was Vegas Matt who outlasted them all to win the title.
The Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Invitational IV paid out the top 9 players. The recent CPT Game Night III champion Bryce Hal unfortunately exited on the money bubble falling in 10th place. He was busted by Marqise Lee, who entered the final table as the chip leader ahead of model and actress Rachel Cook.
The first player to fall from the final table was Nicholas “5up” Karabin who ran 10d 9d into pocket aces of Cook to exit in 9th place. Later, a massive pot saw the double elimination of Telli Swift in 8th place, and Hila Klein in 7th place, when Cook flopped top set to take down the pot. Another double elimination occurred when Canada’s John Ferguson and Marqise Lee went all in against Qiyu “Nemo” Zhou. Lee held the best hand, but Zhou out-flopped her opponents and held on to the river.
Vegas Matt, was near the top of the chip counts almost from the beginning of play, found a double through Cook when his pocket jacks held up against the ace-three of Cook. Cash Baker then shoved his queen-ten against the pocket queens of Matt, and was eliminated in fourth place. Finally, it came down to heads-up when Rachel Cook was forced all-in on the next hand and was eliminated by Zhou.
Thrilling Final Hand – Quads For Victory
Zhou entered heads-up with a chip lead over Vegas Matt. The latter got off to a strong start, winning the first major pot with ace-five, and then moving into a massive chip lead. Matt finally closed it out in a dramatic fashion. Zhou moved all-in with king-five, and Matt called with pocket deuces, saying “Deuces never loses!”. Matt flopped bottom set. The turn changed little, but the fourth deuce on the river gave Matt quads and Celebrity Poker Tour Invitational IV title for $20,000 in prize money.
