Following four days of intense showdowns, Event #43: $1,500 Mixed: Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (7-Handed) of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 found a winner Magnus Edengren, who overcame a field of 853 entries and defeated James Juvancic in heads-up, becoming the first player from Sweden posed at the ongoing series to win a bracelet and $196,970 and his maiden WSOP bracelet.

All eyes in this event were on  all-time WSOP bracelet leader Phil Hellmuth who made it down to the final four players but fell a few spots of securing his record-extending 18th victory at the series, exiting in fourth place. The player who ended Hellmuth’s run in this event was none other than the eventual champion Magnus Edengren.

The final three returned for an unscheduled Day 4 with Edengren leading the trio. Juvancic was the first to fall. He got it in with the nut straight facing the same straight for Edengren in a hand of Big O. Although both Juvancic and Edengren held backdoor flush possibilities, Edengren picked up a fully-fledged flush draw on the turn, and made his clubs on the river to eliminate Juvancic in third place ($91,132), storming into heads-up with  more than a 5:1 chip lead against Tim Seidensticker.

It didn’t take long for Edengren to convert that massive advantage into the title. Following a flop of 10s 7h 3s in Big O, Edengren bet the pot with Ac 10d 9s 9d. Seidensticker re-potted with Qs Qh 7c 3h 2s. Edengren moved all-in and Seidensticker called. The turn Kd  improved Edengren to kings and tens to give him the best high hand. The river brought the 2c, which won the pot for Edengren. Seidensticker earned $131,308 as the runner-up finisher – his largest career tournament score.
