With numerous prestigious titles to his name and a massive net worth, Smith has established himself as one of the poker veterans. In this report, we will explore Dan Smith’s net worth, early life, poker career, personal life, and many more.

Dan Smith’s Early Life – From Chess to Cards

Dan Smith was born on February 23, 1989, in Manalapan Township, New Jersey. At a young age, he showed a keen interest in strategy-oriented games. He was an avid chess player, traveling across the country to compete in tournaments.

Poker surged into the mainstream after the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event. Everyone started playing the game online or offline, trying to win some sizable chunk of money. This inspired Smith to get into poker.

The main reason Smith chose poker was because of the money. In an interview with CardPlayer, Smith recalled how, as a 15-year-old, he saw the challenges faced by top-ranking chess players in the country who were struggling to make ends meet. Seeing these people (poker players) win so much money in poker made me wonder, why can’t I do the same?

He quickly switched to poker and made over $30,000, playing $3-$6 NLHE during his high school. By the time he was 18, Smith had already established a reputation in the online poker community, playing under the screen name “KingDan23.”

Dan Smith Poker Career and Earnings

After finding success in the online poker tournament, Smith transitioned into a live poker player, hoping to find success. He made his first live poker debut in 2008’s Heartland Poker Tour. He outlasted a field of 250 entries to win his first-ever live tournament and a top prize of $101,960.

It was a dream start for the player, but like many other poker players, he faced variance. The next few years were dreadful for Smith. He wasn’t finding any success in tournaments. But he stuck around to win his first 7 figure top prize money in 2012.

In 2012, Smith won the Aussie Millions High Roller $100,000 buy-in event for a staggering prize money of $1.04 million.

It was a turning point for Smith. Not only did it boost his confidence, but it also helped him financially.

Later that year, he scored another 7 figures by triumphing in the EPT €50,000 High Roller event, earning $1.18 million.

In 2013, Smith achieved another milestone in his career. He won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Five Diamond World Poker Classic Super High Roller, earning $1.16 million and his first WPT title.

The American player added the “bracelet winner” title to his name in 2022. He won the $25,000 NLH Heads-up Championship at the 53rd WSOP, securing his first gold bracelet.

As of June, 2024. Smith has over $55 million in live tournament earnings and currently holds the 5th place on Hendon Mob’s all-time money list.

Dan Smith Personal Life and Charities

Dan Smith is very private about his personal life and doesn’t talk much about it. However, he is passionate about philanthropy and community service. He has engaged in several charitable endeavors, often using his social media and poker fame to raise funds and awareness for various causes.

In 2014, Smith launched the “Double Up Drive,” a charitable initiative aimed at supporting different charities. Till now, the initiative has raised more than $27 million, with Smith personally contributing significant amounts to match the donations collected.

Dan Smith’s Net Worth In 2024

Dan Smith’s current net worth stands at around $55 million, according to estimates. Most of his fortune comes from High-stakes poker events, earning him a spot among the top of High-stakes poker players. Most recently, he made waves in the WSOP 2024 $ 25,000 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller – 8-Handed (Bracelet Event #26) where he finished 13th for $ 75,801.
