In a remarkable display of dominance, high-stakes poker professional Jared Bleznick clean-swept PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel 5 with a 3-0 victory against Poker Hall of Famer Patrik Antonius. Bleznick defeated the poker hall of famer in three straight rounds of the Duel 5, securing the coveted High Stakes Duel Championship belt and $400,000 for his victory in third round.

https://twitter.com/PokerGO/status/1861658714169844182

The showdown, with a $200,000 buy-in, lasted over five hours and demonstrated Bleznick’s exceptional skills in both pot-limit omaha and no-limit hold’em. The win adds another milestone to his impressive resume, which includes a World Series of Poker bracelet and a Super High Roller Bowl PLO ring. With the victory, Bleznick now joins the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Jason Koon, and Daniel Negreanu as champions of PokerGO’s signature heads-up competition.

Jared Bleznick Vs Patrik Antonius High Stakes Poker Duel Round 3

The mixed game round kicked off with $300/$600 blinds with PLO. Unlike the other two heads-up, Antonius managed to take a quick lead after the first hour of play. But Bleznick turned the game in the second hour by scooping a big pot for an 11:9 chip advantage over Antonius.

The players then changed and exchanged small and big pots, and Antonius closed the chip gap. On a specific hand, Antonius open raised $4,000 holding As-6s, and Bleznick called with Qs-8c. The flop ran Kc-10s-9s and Bleznick fired $3,000, and Antonius called to see the Ac on the turn, giving him the top pair and a nut flush draw. Bleznick checked and Antonius put $10,000 into the middle. Bleznick responded to it with a $28,000 check raised and Antonius called.

The river rolled out 5s, completing the nut flush for Antonius. Bleznick bet a sizable $58,000 into the already $70k pot. Antonius then moved all in for $125k, and Bleznick folded his hand. This gave Antonius a 5:3 chip advantage.

However, Bleznick soon turned the tides with back-to-back flushes in PLO. Antonius tried for a comeback, but a costly bluff left him with just 25 big blinds, heading into the final hour of play.

The Final Hand

The decisive hand came after hours of back-and-forth play. With nearly even stacks, Antonius open-shoved for $123,000 holding Kc-4c. Bleznick called with Ah-5s. Antonius graciously shook hands with Bleznick before seeing the board.

The flop came 7d-4d-2s, giving Antonius a pair of fours but opening a straight draw for Bleznick. The turn brought the 3s, completing Bleznick’s straight and securing his victory.

Bleznick’s clean sweep places him in elite company, becoming only the second player in High Stakes Duel history to achieve a 3-0 victory, following 17-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.

For Antonius, the loss marks a tough conclusion to his High Stakes Duel 5 run, but he will cope with this with his $12.1 million live poker earnings, which he scored in 2024.

PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel 5 is set to see at least three rounds. Once again, Jared Bleznick defeated the 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee Patrik Antonius claim the second consecutive victory for $200k on Tuesday. Antonius has agreed to a rematch, taking the action to Round 3 with a $200,000 buy-in scheduled for November 26th.

Despite the losses, Antonius remains renowned as one of the top players in no-limit hold’em and recently secured a victory in the $200K Triton Invitational Tournament in Monte Carlo, earning $5.1 million. On the other hand, Bleznick has demonstrated his skills in pot-limit Omaha, boasting a Super High Roller Bowl PLO Championship title. He also claimed his first bracelet at the 2024 WSOP $50K NLH High Roller, achieving a career-best $2 million payday.

The second round of the heads-up duel featured a mixed game format, alternating between no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha. The match began with both players holding chip stacks of $100,000.

High Stakes Duel 5 Jared Bleznick Vs. Patrik Antonius

Despite his recent Triton Monte Carlo triumph, Antonius’s luck ran out at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. Early in the match, Antonius picked up A♥ 5♥, running into Bleznick’s pocket-aces. Bleznick claimed the $35,000 pot, a small but significant blow that put Antonius on the back foot.

The pivotal moment came toward the end of the first half during the pot-limit Omaha round. Bleznick, on the button, open-raised to $1.8K with J♠ 9♦ 8♠ 5♦, and Antonius called with Q♦ 6♥ 6♦ 3♠. The flop came 9♣ 7♦ 5♣. Bleznick bet $2.5K, and Antonius check-raised to $8.5K. Bleznick called.

The turn came out K♦, giving both players a diamond flush draw, with Antonius holding the superior queen-high draw. Antonius bet $10K, and Bleznick responded by raising it to $50,600. Antonius opted to fold, missing an opportunity to shift momentum. This fold gave Bleznick a 2:1 chip advantage, which he soon extended to 3:1.

The PLO champion maintained relentless pressure, leaving Antonius no room to recover. The final hand took place in no-limit hold’em, where Bleznick held A♦ Q♣ and limp-shoved against Antonius’s A♠ J♦. Antonius called, but the board ran 7♠ 4♣ 3♦ 10♠ K♠, favoring Bleznick’s ace-queen. With this victory, Bleznick won Round 2 and now heads into the November 26th showdown with a total of $400K buy-in.

The recent two events of the 2024 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series (SHRS) in Monte Carlo saw Finland’s poker star Patrik Antonius and American high roller sensation Jesse Lonis adding a seven-figure score to their poker resumes. With Poker Hall of Famer Patrik Antonius earning a career-best payday of $5.1 million, and his second triton title in event 8, Lonis won event 9 for his first-ever triton title, pocketing $1.5 million. Here is the recap:

Jesse Lonis Earns $1.5 Million and His First Triton Title

Jesse Lonis won the Triton SHRS Monte Carlo Event #9: $50,000 NLH 7-Handed at Sporting Monte-Carlo, scoring his first ever triton poker title, banking a seven-figure sum of $1,502,000. It was Lonis’ fourth poker title of 2024, which brought his live poker career earnings to $13 million.

The $50k buy-in 7-handed no-limit hold ’em event drew 125 entrants, building up a total prize pool of $6,250,000. Of the 125 players, the top 20 players shared the prize pool. The two-day event, saw 28 players returning to the final day, with Punnat Punsri leading the remaining players. Punsri also entered the final table as the chip leader, while Lonis held the third position in the chip lead.

Lonis became the table short during the three-handed play, which didn’t last long as he doubled up through the chip leader Punsri. Punnat Punsri covered the loss by knocking out Dan Smith in 3rd place. Punsir held a 3:1 chip advantage over Lonis in the heads-up, and both players discussed whether to opt for an ICM chop, but chose not to.

Finally both players got  all of their chips into the middle. Lonis rolled out his Ac-9d against Punsri’s Ad-3c. The dry board favored Lonis’s ace-nine, crowning him the champion.

Punnat Punsri had to settle with $1,021,000, while Lonis banked his career second seven-figure score of $1.5 million.

The victory brought his career earnings up to over $29 million, ranking up to 28th place on Hendon Mob’s all-time money list.

The $200k buy-in saw 102 turnouts, generating a massive $20,400,000 prize pool, split among the top seventeen players. The tournament ran from November 7th to November 9th, with the field quickly narrowing down to the final 9 on Day 2, who advanced to Day 3.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has announced Finland’s All-Time Money leader and high-stakes pro Patrik Antonius as the 2024 inductee into the Poker Hall of Fame. Antonious becomes the 63rd player to enter the Hall of Fame  following Brian Rast in 2023.

The Finland high-stakes crusher was honored with an induction ceremony featuring his friends, family and fans inside the Paris Ballroom ahead of Event #95: Poker Hall of Fame Bounty NLH event for which Antonius delivered the customary ‘Shuffle Up and Deal’ before taking his seat.

A former model and tennis player and coach from Finland, Antonius is one of the most successful poker players from Europe with a whopping $22,995,774 in live poker tournament earnings. Currently sitting on top of Finland’s all-time money list, Antonius was inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame after a public nomination and voting by 31 living members of the hall.

“In the modern era of poker, few have been as bold and fearless as Patrik Antonius,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. “A force both online and live, we’re thrilled to see Patrik’s high-stakes career acknowledged by legends who have added the first international player to the Poker Hall of Fame in a number of years.”

A nosebleed cash game and high-stakes tournament pro, Antonius is one of most recognized faces and has contributed a lot to the game by playing and promoting it. In 2023, he made history by shipping a $1,978,000 cash game pot, the largest ever pot on a U.S. livestream broadcast.

While his first two cashes came only in low stakes tournaments in 2003, he quickly jumped into high stakes games. He placed 12th in the 2005 PCA and 15th in the $10K WPT Shooting Star the same year before taking down the 2005 Scandinavian Poker Championships, which marked his first live tournament victory.

Since then, there has been no looking back for this poker legend as he has amassed over $23 million in live tournament earnings. He has six seven-figure scores to his name, including his career-best $3,153,551, which came in the 2018 Super High Roller Bowl Macau. Additionally, he has also won an EPT Main Event,  EPT High Roller and a Triton title.

This was the second time that he was nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame, having earned a nomination in 2020. His photo will now be displayed in the Horseshoe’s Hall of Fame Poker Room and he will join the elite list of the following poker legends already inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Patrik Antonius overcame a record-breaking field of 72 entries in the €100,000 Super High Roller at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo, taking home €1,967,44 and the coveted EPT trophy. This marked his first live title of 2024 and second major EPT title of his career. This was the second seven-figure score of the year for the Finnish superstar and it took his live earnings to $21.637 Million.

2024 EPT Monte Carlo €100,000 EPT Super High Roller Recap

This €100,000 EPT Super High Roller was by far the biggest EPT Monte Carlo super high roller, surpassing the previous record of 71 entries set in 2015 and resulting in a prize pool of $7,544,275, which was finally shared by the top 11 finishers. All-time money leader Justin Bonomo was the first player to finish in the money, securing €174,600 with an 11th place showing late on day 2. He was followed by two-time bracelet winner Nick Petrangelo finishing 10th for a prize of €174,600.

The final day began with nine players with Finland’s All-Time Money leader Patrik Antonius leading the way. Defending champion Alex Kulev started the day as the short-stack with seven big blinds, and unsurprisingly he was the first to exit the table in ninth place after his pocket nines lost against the king-ten of Pardo. He was then followed by two-time POY winner Stephen Chidwick (8th – €272,800).

Antonius scored his first knockout of the day with his A-Q suited holding against the A-9 of David Yan (7th – €341,200. Yan was followed by Jean-Noel Thorel who fell after calling off with king-queen suited versus a jam from Pardo with ace-ten. Bracelet winner Ben Heath exited  in fifth place after his pocket tens lost a preflop race against the K-J suited of Antonius. Heath from the UK earned €536,500 for his efforts. Antonius then scored his third elimination of the day when he held with A-J suited against the A-8 of Byron Kaverman (4th – €697,500) to enter the 3-handed play with the largest stack.

The next player to fall was Juan Pardo (3rd – €906,700) whose pocket queens were beaten by the Q-6 suited of Christoph Vogelsang, who hit trip sixes. The heads-up began with Antonius holding a 4:3 chip lead over Germany’s Vogelsang. While the latter fought valiantly, Antonius was able to move into the massive lead and win the title. On the final hand, Vogelsang limp-called with Ah 5c and Antonius shoved with Ac 9s. The board ran out Kc Qd 4c Qc 9h, giving Antonius the title.

Eliminations continued and the final table was reached after Paul Runcan fell in 10th for €28,510. The action on the final table was fast and furious. The short-stacked Julien Thome was the first casualty after his pocket jacks fell to the unstoppable pocket aces of chip leader Ioannis Poullos. He was followed by Stephane Gabarre, Joachim Meisolle, and Taran Parmar all falling in quick succession.

Javier Gomez, who began the final table with a middle-of-the-pack stack, ascended the leaderboard quickly by scoring the next two eliminations. He first busted Lithuania’s Vladas Tamasauskas in fifth place. He then eliminated fellow Spaniard Javier Fernandez in fourth place, bringing the field to three.

The final three players – Poullos, Di Meglio, and Gomez – held almost even chip stacks with Poullos holding a marginal lead. They finally agreed for a deal, ensuring a fair distribution of the remaining prize money. After the deal, the battle for the coveted PokerStars trophy continued.
