She began her journey in the media and quickly rose to fame in the poker world. Scott has co-hosted several prestigious poker tournaments, including the World Series of Poker.

Kara Scott’s Early Life and Poker Introduction

Kara Scott was born and raised in Northern Alberta, Canada, where she spent most of her early years before moving to the United Kingdom in 1999. After relocating to the UK, Scott pursued a career in media, working as a television presenter and producer. During this time, she also became one of the hosts of the first televised backgammon series—the 2005 World Backgammon Championships.

Scott’s introduction to poker came through her work in media and television, where she quickly found success. Due to her experience as a host, she was selected as one of the presenters of the poker show Poker Night Live. She also wrote about poker in publications like Poker Player Magazine and CardPlayer Magazine, further cementing her reputation as a knowledgeable figure in the industry.

In addition to Poker Night Live, Kara Scott co-hosted GSN’s High Stakes Poker and ESPN’s World Series of Poker 2011 Main Event. Besides, Kara has also competed in some of PokerStars’ TV shows, like Shark Cage where she played against Sara Chafak, Ronnie Bardah, Ole Schemion, Griffin Benger, and several others.

Kara Scott’s Poker Career

After entering the poker scene, Scott scored her first recorded live cash in 2007 in the $3K NLH PartyPoker Women’s World Open, finishing 5th for $5,000. The following year, she won the PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge III, taking home a whopping $50,977.

In 2008, Scott ran deep in the 39th WSOP $10K Main Event, earning an impressive $41,816. The next year, in 2009, she secured the biggest cash of her career—$413,612—after finishing 2nd in the Irish Poker Open €3,500 Main Event.

Scott continued to participate in numerous events each year whenever she had the chance. However, she was unable to maintain her top-level poker performance, especially after 2015. Between 2010 and 2015, she ran deep in events like the WPT Grand Prix de Paris Main Event and several other tournaments.

Unfortunately, she semi-retired from professional poker after becoming a mother and focusing on her media career. Scott’s last recorded live cash came in 2019 when she won the maiden 888poker LIVE Trophy after winning the 888poker Live €220 Ladies Event for $1,407.

As of now, Kara Scott has accumulated over $664,000 in live poker earnings from just 25 cashes.
