Born on November 12, 1986, Jason Mercier grew up in Hollywood, Florida. Before turning to poker professionally, Mercier initially aspired to become a math teacher and was pursuing his studies in that direction. However, fate had other plans for the future high-stakes grinder.

In addition to his love for math, Mercier was a passionate athlete—playing basketball, baseball, and soccer throughout all four years of high school. He even played for his school’s basketball team in his senior year.

Mercier was introduced to poker during his teenage years, playing casually with friends. Inspired by the “Moneymaker Effect,” he soon transitioned into online poker, playing under the screen name “treysfull21.” He started with cash games but quickly became immersed in tournaments as well. Later that same year, he final-tabled the EPT Barcelona Main Event, finishing 6th for $324,946. He followed this with a win in the EPT London £20,000 High Roller, pocketing another $944,847.

In 2009, Mercier won his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event, earning $237,462. He then secured 4th place in the 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event for $440,620.

His career continued to soar in 2010 with a $475,000 win at the NAPT Mohegan Sun Bounty Shootout, along with five WSOP cashes totaling nearly $100k. In 2022, Mercier made three WSOP cashes, including a 6th place finish in the $50,000 PLO High Roller for $260,815. In the 2024 WSOP, he finished 3rd in the $10,000 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball Championship for $151,412. His last cash of the year came in the Seminole Hard Rock RRPO $3,500 WPT Open Championship for $13,800. His first 2025 result came at the PGT Mixed Games $25,300 Mix Championship, where he finished 7th for $56,000.
