The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to crown new champions and award whopping cash prizes. Day 38 of the series saw several new champions, with Germany’s  Daniel Perkusic victory in Event #79: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller being the key highlight of the day. He overcame the 187-entrant field and defeated a star-studded final table featuring Danny Tang, Jim Collopy, Ronald Keijzer, and India’s Santhosh Suvarna to pocket the $2,100,324 top prize and his first bracelet.

Perkusic’s previous biggest score was $265,746, which he earned for his EPT Barcelona €10k Pot-Limit Omaha event victory in 2022. The latest win took his live earnings to more than $2.738 million.

WSOP 2024 $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha Quick Recap

The WSOP 2024 Event #79: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller ran over the course of four days and drew 187 entries (a slight dip in attendance compared to this event in 2023), generating a prize pool of $8,929,250. The top 29 players were paid out, with Dan Smith, Dylan Weisman, Richard Gryko, Dan Shak, Noah Schwartz, Anthony Zinno, Jason Mercier, Isaac Kempton, Viktor Blom, Cary Katz, Sean Winter, Ben Lamb, Brian Rast, and David Benyamine being the big names to finish in the money.

The third and final day began with just five players returning to the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Hong Kong’s Danny Tang started the day as the overall chip leader with a stack of 20,725,000 chips. Indian high roller Santhosh Suvarna, who made history by winning the WSOP $250K Super High Roller a few days back, entered the day as the shortest stack with a stack of 4,850,000 chips. Suvarna was hunting for his second bracelet of the series but unfortunately he hit the rail after only a few hands. The Indian high-stakes pro got it in with aces on the jack-high flop, but ran into the set of Perkusic and got no help on the turn and river. Suvarna was awarded $503,085 for his remarkable fifth place finish.

This marked his fourth and second biggest cash of the ongoing series, following $5,415,152, which he earned a few days back for his thumping victory in the $250K Super High Roller tournament.

Dutch Pot-Limit Omaha giant Ronald Keijzer  then clashed in a big pot. Keijzer ran his two pairs into Tang’s queen full house and exited in fourth place ($692,232). With over half the chips in play, Tang was the massive chip leader but was soon dethroned by Perkusic who won some pots against the leader to close the gap.

Perkusic eventually overtook the lead when he knocked out two-time bracelet winner Jim Collopy in third place ($973,882). His pocket aces held against the pocket kings of Collopy preflop, setting up the heads up play for the title with Tang.

Heads Up For The Title

Perkusic had a slight lead over Tang at the start of the heads-up and quickly began working on extending it. While Tang momentarily overtook the lead early in the heads-up but could not maintain his momentum. Perkusic was able to apply the pressure and slowly increase his advantage until the final hand arose. Holding Kd 6h 6s 5d against Perkusic’s As Ks 9c 2c , Tang shoved all-in on the Kh 9d 6d flop with bottom set against the top two pairs of Perkusic. The turn bricked out, but the river 9h gave Perkusic the superior full house to win the pot and his first WSOP bracelet.
