The 2024 Wynn Millions $3,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em championship event drew in an impressive 1,180 entries, surpassing its $3 million guarantee by over $750,000. The top 151 finishers were paid out, with the final six players receiving six-figure payouts. In the end, the largest score went to Indo-American ace Neel Murthy, who emerged victorious with the title and the top prize of $502,856. This marked Murthy’s second biggest tournament cash. The California resident now has more than $1.6 million in total live tournament earnings.

Hosted at Wynn Las Vegas, this tournament had three starting flights and four more days of action. It saw several big names run deep, including bracelet winner Anthony Spinella (17th for $28,276), bracelet winner Paul Hizer (14th for $32,918), 2023 WSOP main event runner-up Steven Jones (13th for $38,472), two-time bracelet winner Martin Zamani (10th for $45,174), Daniel Maor (8th for $69,947), and bracelet winner Dominick Sarle (7th for $91,730).

The final day began with five players remaining and Murthy in the lead. Jesse Kandola was the first to fall, with his tens and sixes running into trip sixes of Haim Gabay. He was followed by Paul Lozano Martin who got it in with Ah 4h against 5h 2h of Chris Frank. The turn 6c gave Frank a straight, which was enough to eliminate Martin in fourth place. The next to fall was Gabay who got it in with Jh 10h facing the 9d 9c of Murthy who remained ahead through the turn, then spiked a nine on the river to improve to a set and bust Gabay in third place.

Heads-up saw Murthy holding nearly a 3:1 lead over Frank. An early double for the German pro saw him take a slight advantage. At that point, the final two players struck a deal that saw Frank lock up $500,000, while Murthy was assured $477,856. The title and $25,000 in remaining prize money were still up for grabs as part of the deal.

Murthy won a key pot to pull away and then in the final hand, he shoved on Qh Jc 2s 4h Jh runout. Frank called with Js 5d for trips and Murthy tabled 7h 3h for a flush, winning the coveted pot as well as the title. Frank earned $500,000 as the runner-up finisher, increasing his lifetime earnings to more than $3.3 million.
