2025 WSOP: Jason Koon, Jason Duong, and John Racener Among Latest Winners

It was yet another memorable day at The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Day 16 and 17 saw three new winners who marked their name with bracelet victories. Jason Koon captured his second WSOP bracelet with a win in the prestigious $50,000 High Roller. 

John Racener added a third bracelet to his résumé by dominating the $1,500 Super Turbo Bounty. Meanwhile, Canada’s Jason Duong achieved a long-awaited milestone by claiming his first-ever WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event.

Jason Koon Wins 2025 WSOP $50k High Roller for Second Bracelet

Jason Koon, widely known as the most decorated player on the Triton Poker circuit, emerged victorious in Event #32: $50,000 High Roller. Outlasting an elite field, Koon secured his second WSOP bracelet and a massive $1,968,927 payday. With this win, Koon’s live tournament earnings surpassed $66 million, propelling him past Justin Bonomo into third place on the all-time money list.

The high-stakes event attracted 171 entries, generating a prize pool of $8,122,500. The top 26 finishers cashed, with poker heavyweights like Shannon Shorr, Joao Simao, Punnat Punsri, Chino Rheem, Martin Kabrhel, and Brian Rast among those making deep runs.

Koon’s close friend and mentor, Ben Tollerene, fell just short of the heads-up match, finishing in third place for $914,634.

Heads-Up

In the final duel, Koon held a chip advantage over Andrew Lichtenberger, with both players chasing their second bracelet. Despite Lichtenberger’s efforts to close the gap, Koon never relinquished the lead. 

On the final hand, Lichtenberger moved all-in with ace-ten, and Koon called with king-queen. The board ran out 2♠-K♥-J♥-8♦-7♣, giving Koon top pair and the  victory. Lichtenberger earned $1,312,610 for his runner-up finish.

Jason Duong’s Heroic Comeback Nets First Bracelet in WSOP 2025 $1,500 Limit Hold’em

Toronto-based Limit Hold’em specialist Jason Duong finally captured his first WSOP bracelet in Event #33: $1,500 Limit Hold’em. After finishing seventh in the same event in both 2022 and 2023, Duong bested a field of 491 players this year to claim the title and a career-best $130,061.

The tournament generated a $651,802 prize pool, with 74 players earning a payout. Lawrence Robinson finished third, collecting $59,263 and setting the stage for a gripping heads-up match between Duong and Adam Tyburski.

Heads-Up

Tyburski began the heads-up with a small chip lead and extended it, bringing Duong down to just 10 big bets. However, Duong mounted an impressive comeback. A pivotal hand saw his pocket jacks hold against Tyburski’s pocket fours, shifting momentum. 

In the final hand, Tyburski shoved with ten-nine of diamonds, and Duong called with ace-nine of hearts, eventually flopping a flush to secure the title. Tyburski earned $86,673 for his second-place finish.

John Racener Clinches Third Bracelet in WSOP 2025 Super Turbo Bounty

Veteran pro John Racener added a third WSOP bracelet to his collection after outlasting a massive 2,232-player field in Event #34: $1,500 NLH Super Turbo Bounty. Racener took home $247,595, pushing his lifetime tournament earnings close to $13 million.

The fast-paced event generated a $1,834,568 prize pool, with 333 players finishing in the money. China’s Xinwen Zhang finished third, earning $120,457.

Heads-Up

Racener entered the final battle with a 2:1 chip lead over Liran Betito and quickly closed it out. In the final hand, Betito moved all-in with pocket jacks, only to be outflopped by Racener’s king-four on a board of J♠-K♥-6♦-4♦-7♥, giving Racener two pair and the win. Betito earned $164,964 for his runner-up finish.

Team India’s Performance

Team India’s Sriharsha Doddapaneni, and Abhinav Iyer made it to the money in Event #34: $1,500 Super Turbo Bounty, finishing in 94th and 300th place, collecting $2,716, and $1,883 respectively.
